Bizzabo Acquires Whalebone To Drive Real-Time Hybrid Event Engagement

Published: May 25, 2021

Event platform Bizzabo acquired Swedish event data insights software Whalebone to bridge the gap between virtual and in-person events and help users humanize digital interactions with their event attendees.

With Whalebone’s acquisition, Bizzabo hopes businesses hosting hybrid events will be able to drive greater real-time engagement by visualizing the virtual audience’s reactions. The company’s sensor interaction tools will allow Bizzabo users to simulate live audience elements during their hybrid events, amplifying reactions such as applause, audience buzz, etc. for in-person speakers to play off of. The platform can also help in-person crowds visualize and interpret virtual reactions in real-time, helping event speakers connect with virtual attendees naturally for a more intimate experience.

“With Whalebone, we have the power to create holistic events that ensure virtual attendees have a unique visual and audio-like experience,” said Eran Ben-Shushan, Co-Founder & CEO of Bizzabo, in a statement. “Beyond crowd noise and visualizations, Whalebone’s cutting edge crowd technology will be used to close the feedback loop between speakers and their audiences, thus unlocking and visualizing real-time engagement at virtual events.”
