HubSpot Acquires Chat Bot Builder Motion AI

Published: September 21, 2017

HubSpot has announced it has acquired Motion AI, a cross-platform technology that enables users to create chat bots for their websites via SMS, Facebook Messenger, Slack and more.

The company said the Motion AI technology will be incorporated into the HubSpot platform over the next several months, during which the team will create tools designed to help users automate tasks, scale conversations and proactively engage and acquire new customers.

Prior to the acquisition, HubSpot was a Motion AI customer and integrated the tool within the HubSpot Free CRM. The integration deployed Motion AI bots to take CRM contacts through a personalized journey designed to offer customers a more one-on-one buying experience typically seen in traditional email communication.

“It’s impossible to ignore the impact of chat and messaging, not just on the way B2B companies operate, but on society as a whole,” said Brian Halligan, Co-founder and CEO of HubSpot, in a statement. “We’re in the midst of a massive shift as businesses embrace this new platform and consumers come to expect more immediate, always-on communication from brands.”
