TechTarget, a leading growth accelerator for the B2B Technology sector, announced that Patrick Martell become a non-executive director and Chair of Informa TechTarget effective March 1.
Martell, the New York-based Chief Executive of Informa Markets, will succeed Mary McDowell. In a release announcing the change, the company noted McDowell’s knowledge of Informa and its businesses from her previous non-executive role as Senior Independent Director of Informa PLC made her the ideal Chair of Informa TechTarget through its combination program, which is now complete.
The acquisition of TechTarget by UK-based Informa Plc was approved by shareholders in November 2024. The British B2B services group paid $350 million in cash to combine its digital businesses— including Omdia and Information Week— with tech publisher and advertising / lead generation specialist TechTarget taking a majority stake in the new company.
Deal Details
According to his LinkedIn profile, Martell began as Chief Executive of Informa Intelligence, leading expansion and a complex restructuring process, then moved to the new role of Group COO in 2018 following the acquisition of UBM. After the divestment of Informa Intelligence in 2022, he became CEO of Informa Markets in 2023. He also served as the Senior Independent Director and Remuneration Committee Chair at RM plc until the end of December 2023.
Martell previously was CEO of St Ives, the UK printing group which he helped transform into a marketing services company, including through the acquisition of consumer insights specialist Incite.
